Big Pharma has taken over the world. Once the speculation of conspiracy theorists, is now a terrifying reality. Ever since 2015, the Pharmaceuticals Industry has toppled the Food Industry in profits. It proves two things: one, we are so sick that we spend more on medicine than on food, two, medicine is goddamn expensive. And expensive it is. And there is no end to it if you suffer from a chronic illness such as cancer or diabetes. A life-long expense to hang by the line. I am personally pro-life. I believe that it is our innate nature to look for a fulfilling life. The very nature of a fulfilling life is that you remain healthy and able for the most of it. If we are to take the average human lifespan to be 80, then most people actually do not live a healthy life in the west. Whereas in countries like China and Japan, people live a very healthy life, sometimes spanning over a century. Even the Native Americans are healthier; I have personally met elderly Cherokees who have better eye-sight than me.

Why is this so? Of course, genetics play a good role in how we age. But if you look closely into the lifestyles of these people, you will notice a few similarities.
First of these is their positive embracing of nature and everything natural. They do become sick, they seek expert’s help, they take their medicine, that way we are similar. But alongside what the doctor recommends they tend to also rely on traditional herbal remedies. Which they continue even after becoming healthy, it becomes a part of their diet. That is not all, these people have a very active life and marvelously synchronized sleep-cycles. Work throughout the day, sleep throughout the night. They spend their lives in this natural cycle and keep their diets raw, usually eating boiled food. Even though these cultures have been affected by modern fast-food, they are still skewed towards their traditional diet on a daily basis.
Second, is their belief that herbal medicine is safer than allopathic medicine. From berries to leaves, roots to vines, they seek relief in nature first. They have faith in even the most poisonous variants and have succeeded in surviving the turmoil of life for thousands of years before allopathy became mainstream. Allopathic medicine requires immense maintenance to work, and often a single variant may not suit certain individuals. Allopathic medicine is focused on relief rather than cure. And when the medicines fail, they resort to surgery, often removal of entire organs. Extremism is a necessity when the only focus is to provide short-term relief. Herbal medicine includes its own sort of science, relying more on the effects of a plant material on a person rather than blood-fluid interaction, which often varies in people. Therefore, herbal medicine is safer because it is not extreme and the body is more likely to reject it if it is not beneficial. A proof of this is the great human population before the 19th century. Humans had the ability to survive illness through proper care before the heroic medicine era. From Unani medicine of Avicenna to the Ayurveda of Indian yogis, human life-span became increasingly longer. It is absolutely creditable to the herbal diet of people before the Heroic era, therefore it is a resounding theory that herbal medicine is safer.
Third, their seasonal awareness. This is a great aspect of their healthy lives. It is also the general system of using herbal medicine. All of these societies remain aware of diseases that spread with changing weather, and remain vigilant in special weather conditions. This allows them to prevent disease before individuals are affected. Quickly changing their diets and including the required herbal medicine.
It is easier to opt for relief, relief is first priority. But it is never true relief if a person does not forsake their unhealthy lifestyle and diet. It is never relief if diseases recur. Everyone dies, true, but herbal medicine was never about curing death. The goal of herbal medicine is to become part of a healthy diet, a step towards a healthier life. Herbs are essential dietary supplements inseparable from a natural, healthy human being.
